Coming Up For Air

Man oh man what a weekend.  Like most geeks worldwide, I spent the majority of the weekend A) playing Half Life 2: Episode 1 and B) not getting nearly enough full meals and C) consuming too many beers.  The game is a little repetitive at times (and I still haven’t finished it), but the graphics are unlike anything I’ve ever seen in a game.  They aren’t quite as good as they were in the Lost Coast demo, but they are definitely stunning.

In other news, the project I’m working on appears to be collapsing like a flan in a cupboard (10 cool points for whoever gets that reference).  It is suffering from the most severe case of scope creep I’ve ever seen and there is simply no way we’re going to make our deadline (I’m pulling 12 hour days, 6 days a week).  Community Server can definitely do what they need…but probably in the 3.0 release as they are looking for a full on CMS.  More than likely I’m going to get them on Sharepoint and pass them off to some buddies of mine.

I also have other huge news, but can’t mention it now.  Look for an announcement in the coming weeks.  Unfortunately that is offset by some really bad news…as this is not a personal blog,  I don’t know how comfortable I’d feel posting about it.  But it’s related to the poor decisions I mentioned earlier, and is very disappointing to say the least.  I messed up bad, but c’est la vie, life moves on whether you want it to or not.  The rebuilding process is going to be very painful.  I may post about it later on just to get it off my chest and try to bury it…writing is fantastic therapy.  Unfortunately it implicates yours truly, so we’ll see how I feel about it after some time has passed.  For now I’m pleading the 5th (no, I did not actually commit a crime).
